The slipway is located on Sandside at the northern end of the inner harbour. It is locally known as the ‘Golden Ball’ slipway.
It is accessible at all states of the tide and the barrier will be raised for you by Harbour staff.
Launching Notice
Please read this important notice regarding the launching of vessels
While we do not require a copy of your insurance documents, you are required to sign the launch permit stating that you hold insurance to a minimum of £1,000,000 third party and state the name of your insurance company.
You are welcome to launch your vessel and then stay overnight at visitors' rates. Please confirm mooring arrangements with the Lighthouse Attendant / Port Control.

Car parking is available for your vehicle and trailer in the trailer park on North Marine Drive. Please contact the Lighthouse Attendant / Port Control.
While the Council has no legislative powers to insist on the equipment you take with you, we do recommend:
Lifejackets are available for all crew Flares on board All children wear lifejackets while near the water VHF Compass Anchor and line Fire extinguishers Audible warning Torch
Diving boats and day launch boats are prohibited from using the private pontoons for loading and unloading. Please use the access ladders located around the harbour and/or contact the Lighthouse Attendant / Port Control for further details or if you need specific assistance.
If the lighthouse is unmanned, your fees can be paid at Port Control, located on the end of West Pier. Fees can also be paid at the Harbour Office, during normal office hours.
Staff in other Scarborough Borough Council offices are not authorised to handle any monies or correspondence associated with Harbour Dues.
