Applying for a Berth

We operate a waiting list procedure. It is £25 to join the waiting list and this deposit will be deducted from the first invoice when a berth is accepted. Application Form Adobe PDF document logo.

Mooring Periods

The berths are allocated from 1 April to 31 March.

Moorings

Pontoon moorings are available in the inner and outer harbours. Alongside berthing is available for vessels with a shallow draft that can take the bottom.

Cradle berthing for deeper draft fin keel yachts in the centre of the outer harbour.(you will need to provide your own cradles)

Speed

All craft to maintain a slow speed within Harbour Limits.

Safety and Security

Please take note of the safety equipment provided and its location. Port Control is a 24 hour watch keeping system employing CCTV surveillance.

Fire Drill

Raise the alarm, contact Port Control or the Lighthouse. Harbour staff will contact the fire services if they have not already been called. Clear the area of any people particularly down wind of fire. Leave the area in an orderly manner.

Mooring Lines

Ensure that your craft is properly secured with bow, stern lines and springs adequate to requirements.

Insurance Requirements

All berth holders must produce a copy of their insurance with a minimum third party limit of £1,000,000. The Council does offer third party cover for our berth holders with a signed berthing contract under the harbour insurance scheme.

Berthing Contract

A signed berthing contract agreeing to the berthing conditions must be signed by all leisure craft moored within the harbour limits and all craft on council moorings.  Please take note of and comply with the berthing conditions.

Lighthouse

The leisure craft are serviced by the Lighthouse which is located on the Vincent Pier.  The opening hours of the Lighthouse reflect the seasonal fluctuation of vessels and visitors.
Facilities

A full list of charges is available.  These are also displayed at the Marina Office and the Harbour Office.

Harbour Dues

These are payable by all vessels within harbour limits and run from 1 April to 31 March.  They are payable by the owner on 1 April unsolicited – however it is usual practice to be invoiced for all charges.

From 1 April 2008 it will no longer be possible to pay any harbour fees in instalments.

Transfers

Berth holders requesting a transfer to some other berth are asked to submit their requests in writing to the Harbour Office.  These are processed in strict order as from the date of request and as and when a suitable berth becomes available.

Car Parking

Members of Scarborough Yacht Club are entitled to apply for a permit to park on the East Pier.  Public parking is available on the West Pier and Marine Drive.

Crane

An electric crane located on the Vincent Pier is available for the use of Scarborough Harbour berth holders. Please contact the Harbour Office to arrange this.

Pets

Keep these on a lead and do not let them foul the pontoons or footpaths.
