Leisure Visiting Craft
Tall Ship visiting Whitby Harbour

VHF Channel:  11 – call for Marina in first instance.  If staff are not on duty either Harbour Office or Watchkeeper will respond.

Entering Whitby - Navigation

Registration:
All visiting craft are required to make their presence known to the harbour authority within 24 hours.  Registration is obligatory and forms are available from the Marina Office/Harbour Office/ Watchkeeper/ Bridge Operators.

Moorings:
Located at the north end of the west side pontoon in the upper harbour.  Larger vessels may be moored on the adjacent Endeavour Wharf at the Harbour Masters discretion.

Length of Stay:
This is restricted to a maximum of 14 days.

Security Gate:
The gate fitted to the link span is key operated and they can be obtained from the Marina Office/Harbour Office/Bridge Operators.  Please be careful not to get locked out.

Marina Office:
This is located at the top of the access to the visitor moorings on the west side pontoon.  Office opening hours.

Slipway:
Located at the south end of the marina car park.  It is accessible at most states of the tide with exception of low water springs for day launches when it is accessible for 4 hours either side of High Water.

Speed:
All craft to maintain a slow speed within Harbour Limits.

Safety and Security:
Features include: Fire alarms on the church street and west side pontoons. Rescue ladders are also fitted to these pontoons (please take note of where these are located).

Fire Drill:
Raise the alarm, contact either Marina Office/ Harbour Office/ Watchkeepers Office who will contact the fire services if they have not already been called.  Clear the area of any people particularly down wind of fire.  Leave the area in an orderly manner.

Mooring Lines

Ensure that your craft is properly secured with bow, stern lines and springs adequate to requirements.

Mooring Arrangements

All pontoon moorings are double moored.  (You will share your allocated mooring space with another vessel so please take care to use appropriate fendering.) 

Facilities

A full list of charges is available.  These are also displayed at the Marina Office and the Harbour Office.

Pets:
Keep these on a lead and do not let them foul the pontoons or footpaths.

Applying for a permanent berth:
We operate a waiting list procedure.  It is £25 to join the waiting list and this deposit will be deducted from the first invoice when a berth is accepted.  Application Form.
