The harbour undertakings include Scarborough, Whitby and Filey Coble Landing and are within the Technical Services Section of Scarborough Borough Council. They are managed by the Borough Harbour Master who is supported by the Deputy and Assistant Harbour Masters.
We seek to strike a balance in all of our services, between expenditure on structural maintenance and investment in improvements. The harbours are an essential and integral part of the community and we aim to sustain their commercial viability while maintaining their world-wide appeal to visitors to the area.

Our mission is to provide innovative and responsible leadership in the management and administration of our ports and to endeavour to maintain the infrastructure of the harbours while enhancing economic opportunity, recreational potential and the environmental integrity of the port areas.
We will:
Provide a professional, efficient and courteous service
Provide the best service possible within the resources available
Ensure your visits to the harbour areas are as safe as possible
Continue to train staff to assist in the provision and improvement of our services
Keep the service under continual review and improve our processes
Seek out and apply best practice in all aspects of harbour services
Ensure all our customers are treated fairly and with equality
Support the fishing industry
Provide and maintain a range of berths for private leisure craft
Ensure navigational aids are fully operational
Regularly check and maintain depths within port areas with our own dredging equipment
Maintain a vessel licensing system as agents of the MCA
As the Competent Harbour Authority, maintain the required pilotage service
Provide the necessary infrastructure to accommodate any specialist visiting ships
Support and assist any maritime events held in the harbour areas
Maintain a 24 hour Watchkeeping service at Scarborough and Whitby assisted by CCTV
